Corruption:

Corruption is not just an economic development issue it is a security issue. Development economists also assert corruption is linked to political instability.  Moreover many times corrupt individuals have links to organized crime groups.  In turn organized crime groups may be linked to other extremist organizations.  These groups finance their activities via smuggling activities (arms, drugs, charcoal among other goods) and theft or extortion among other crimes. The Institute for Security Studies in Cape Town in South Africa publishes the INFORMATION PORTAL ON CORRUPTION AND GOVERNANCE IN AFRICA.
